I photograph the people shaping the future of our country and human resilience in Southern Africa.
My work is rooted in a career in photography and photojournalism, working across editorial, commercial and humanitarian assignments. Over the years I have photographed for international publications and organisations, including The Wall Street Journal, Time, Save the Children, The Red Cross, and Room to Read, and local magazines published by Cape Media, Caxton and Carpe Diem.
Earlier in my career, I worked mostly as a magazine photographer producing cover-to-cover work ranging from portraiture to food, celebrities and anything that goes between the cover and back page of a magazine, including the cover! :)
Earlier on, food photography made up a significant part of my work and I did all the photography for 4 cook-books published by CLOVER.

I also spent time in aerial reconnaissance and photographic intelligence, lecturing in image interpretation and the use of photography as a tool for understanding terrain, movement and human activity.
These experiences continue to shape how I see.
My current work is focused on portraiture. Stripped down, intentional, and human. I am interested in presence more than performance, and in creating images that carry a sense of permanence.
I work on commissioned and personal projects, creating images of people whose lives and work are closely tied to the land and to the future of this region.
